Chat reporting was released sometime in 2017, and was a means of reporting a users chat via a command, rather than having to make a report via the forums. The system operates via the /chatreport <name> command, and reports the players last 10 minutes of public chat. /cr <name> can be used instead of it to quicken reporting.
When a user is reported, their chat is submitted for Moderator review, where a Moderator can deal the relevant action. Usually the reporter will get informed if the report was sufficient, or if there was not enough evidence to convict the user, however this will sometimes not happen due to bugs, or if the player is offline.
If a player has multiple chat reports against them, you will recieve the message "There are already open reports against this player". Or, if the player has already been punished "That user has already been dealt with". Chatreporting bypasses the /nick feature, and will still report the users chat to staff under their unnicked name.
When it was first released the chatreport system reported all chat (private, guild and party), however following community backlash this feature was removed.
Chatreporting does not deal with offences such as Teaming, or Cheating. Cheating offences are dealt with by the Watchdog system.
Ways to report someone's chat[]
- On the forums at https://hypixel.net/report
- /creport <username>, /chatreport <username> or /cr <username> will report a player's RECENT PUBLIC CHAT ONLY. If you want to report party, guild or friend chat, you should go here.
- /report <username>, and then selecting the type of chat violation (public, private, or guild).
